Lake

This is a portrait of Lake Jurosko within a framework of mirrors, windows, images, and the personal interface of my laptop. The unattainability and unreality of the Photorealist image is compounded rhizomatically. The composition and use of a mirror is an homage to Eadouard Manet's "Bar at Folies-Bergere". Manet's painting showed a painted mirror that contained a reflection of the artist and not the viewer. This broke the illusion of the image, and left viewer staring at a painted object on a wall. Manet's painting was a precursor to the Modernist meta-realism of the actual painted object in our space. Through repetition of the image within itself, I appropriated this convention into infinity to convey a heightened sense of artificiality and lust.
